Hello Alex how are you doing today?
Hey Brian I’m alright but I’m always busy at the university…I’m a student of Law. I know what you’re thinking, I’m not credible lawyer but you gotta know the enemy or they will smash you down on reality.
How would you describe the music Of Latexxx Teens?
Well Latexxx Teens are a sick-industrial-cyber-gothic-punk cabaret…It could mean all or nothing. When Latexxx Teens formed we wanted to deconstruct the eighties R & R attitude, to create a new one and mix it with cold souls of machines. Our band is a result of two thousand years of anti-human lies. Try to figure human life seen through an Android’s eyes and you could understand what Latexxx Teens are!
Is image a big part of the band?
Sure. Latexxx Teens is not a simple band. Latexxx Teens are a celluloid circus in which all senses are involved. We embody a narcotic theatre of mind mixed with avant-gardes body language. Latexxx Teens is a world in which sounds, images, sins and feelings come in one to create an alternative vision of what we call existence!
How did you come up with the name Alex Love Dolls? Does this mean you play with Dolls, are you a fan of the NY Dolls, or are you a doll collector?
Good question. Well my real name is Alessandro but Alex sounds better in the English language. “Love Dolls” is my personal tribute to two bands: NY Dolls & Vampire Love Dolls. I’m a huge fan of Johnny Thunders and Acey Slade, they’re a great source of inspiration for me. I love their work and so when I chose my name I decided to pay homage to Johnny Thunders (R.I.P.) and to Mr. Slade. When I was child I played with my sister’s doll, maybe someone would think it’s a gay thing, I think it’s gay play with “Big Jim” Ahahahahaha. Playing with the doll could be useful… you know what I mean? I would also be a dolls collector too, I would collect dolls of movie characters but it is too expensive for me.
When growing up what groups did you listen to?
I listened to a lot of different kind of music & bands. I hate narrow-minded people. I started with thrash then I fell in love with black metal & e.b.m., but my greatest love is R & R. Do you want some names? Well Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, Satyricon, Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Misfits, Danzig, Hanoi Rocks, 69 Eyes, Sex Pistols, D-Generation, Alice Cooper, Manowar, Funker Vogt, Covenant (SWE), The Kovenant, Babylon Zoo, R.E.M., Queen, Billy Idol, Turbonegro, Backyard Babies, Smack… As you can see I love many bands.
What was the first album or 45 you bought?
Metallica’s – “Black Album,” I was 12 years old then the day after I bought the whole discography.
What was the first garage band that you were in and did you record anything?
Latexxx Teens’ was my first band. I played for some weeks in a Black Metal band, I don’t remember the name, but it was a silly thing. Last year I played in a cover band too with my friends but it wasn’t a serious project, just for fun.
How did you come up with the name Latexxx Teens?
The name Latexxx Teens doesn’t mean nothing. I choose the name ‘cause it sounds cool and I think it embodies all Latexxx Teens’ aspect: Latex could remind you of something linked to fetish culture, “xxx” I think this is an explicit: “Teens” is what we are in that everyone should listen to during his inner child/teen voice, could be a fun/better world…Today the guys must be an adult soon or the world could fuck them and it’s a horrible thing: to bereave a guy to his “teen-age” do you know what I mean?
Did you have other names for the band before deciding on LT?
Yes the first name was “Wet Lips” but it was too eighties for my taste. So when I came up with the band the name was changed in Latexxx Teens.
Listening to the title track “Latex (De) Generation.” It seems that song has influences of David Sylvain (Japan). Is Japan one of the bands influences?
No man. I know David Sylvain’s band but I don’t consider them an influence for Latexxx Teens’. We take inspiration from other bands like Marilyn Manson, Shotgun Messiah, Murderdolls, Rob Zombie, Vampire Love Dolls, NY Dolls, Motley Crue, & Dead Boys.
Tell me about the cover photo of you. You wear heavy make-up across your eyes. Is that how you go on stage or is there a meaning to it?
What you see on the cover with red make-up is a model, it isn’t me. :) We use a lot of makeup for our performances, cool clothes, white contact lens and so on. We want to embody what we sing/play, what we show you is what we are.
Have you had any label interest with the new release?
We started our promotion a month ago and we’re waiting for responses from Labels. Next autumn will be released on two tributes in which Latexxx Teens have been involved: the first one is a Sex Pistols tribute and we cover “Anarchy In U.K.,” the second one is a Stiv Bators’ tribute and we cover “Ain’T It Fun.” You can taste a little bit of this tune on www.myspace.com/latexxxteens . On “Ain’T It Fun” we’re co-working with Killo & Ln1 from Decadenza, a real R & R machine from Italy (www.decadenza.com). About the new Latexxx Teens I don’t know when, how or who release it! But our debut will be much harder, colder, darker & a faster record that you have ever listened to!
Tell us about your stage show?
There isn’t much to say, we’re planning these days for our show. We would use video projection with sick & avant-guardistic images. Latexxx Teens’ show isn’t a simple concert but a fuckin’ cool experience for the audience…With money I’m sure we can realize the true musical experience in the veins of Alice Cooper, Murderdolls, & Marilyn Manson.
Have you ever thought about recording a solo album?
No man. For the moment Latexxx Teens is my priority. Maybe one day I would like recording something with others.
What other new band would you recommend people to look in to?
I think the most interesting underground bands are:
- Dope Stars Inc.
- Decadenza.
- Land$lide Ladies
- Bastet
- Private Line
If you want mainstream bands according to my opinion Turbonegro, Backyard Babies, & Wednesday 13 is the best you can get.
How is the club music scene in Italy?
There isn’t. Clubs are full of shit, they want only fuckin’ cover band and it’s a sad sad thing ‘cause in Italy there’re a lot of cool bands for every taste…I’m sick & tired of listening to the same Aerosmith, The Darkness, Whitesnake cover bands every week.
Tell me your feeling about the other members in the band.
Icy Teens - the mastermind of Latexxx Teens, awesome guy & full of talent musically…One of my new best friends.
Joseph - unique. He’s the real Dorian Gray. He’s a crazy guy but is nice go out with.
PlasticPoison69 - he’s the baby of Latexxx Teens as with Icy, another fuckin’ genius, he’s a nice guy.
My friendship with other ‘Teens is a most important thing, I couldn’t play with ass-hole guys.
Have you ever played a festival and if so when and where?
Latexxx Teens will play the first gig @ Venice Rock Festival with Dope Stars Inc. & Sigue Sigue Sputnik the 3rd of August 2005… I’m sure it will be a crazy night… R’N’R FOR NEXT (De)GENERATION!!! All the info is available on www.venicerockfestival.com or on www.latexxxteens.com
Tell me what it is like backstage with LT?
Sincerely I’m afraid of this, with Icy & Joseph I haven’t any idea about what could happen so when I come back from Venice I’ll send you a report ahahahahahahahaha
How many women in one night are too much?
Too much is never enough…You know what I mean…
“ sex will be your savoir
you gonna trust
Please let me rape you
be a martyr for my lust
Sex has got a rhythm
And it doesn't miss a beat
Sex for absolution
Tie me up and set me free”
How does the band get ready for a live show?
We’re ready for the show, are you for Darkness (De)Generation?
Are you writing material yet for a full-length release?
Man we have material for a whole discography ahahahahaha. When we get an interesting offer we will chose the songs for a full length but material isn’t a problem for us.
If you were touring in the US what band, would you like to go out on tour with?
If I have a time machine I could say Dead Boys or Shotgun Messiah but I haven’t so I would say Wednesday 13, Trashlight Vision, or Marilyn Manson. If you ask the same thing to other guys you get the same answer: Motley Crue.
What do you see in the future for LT?
Brian I was told: what you wanted is never what you get and so what I can see or not isn’t important…We’re a fuckin’ cool band but the audience will judge what we are, people will decide if we are the future or not. Give us a chance and you’ll be pleasant, don’t give us a chance and we’ll kick your ass…We’re what music is about.
