With one release ("Selling Insincerity") under their belt and the gathering of preppy students flocking to their shows ABIGAILS GHOST takes no backseat to bands like PORCUPINE TREE (which they admire). With a pungent heavy dose of fusion-laden bass lines mixed with riveting guitars which bellow greatness will these boys stay true to their roots?

With a phenomenal opening title track “d_letion” ABIGAILS GHOST floor me with their technical direction and with strong lyrics they still manage to catch you by surprise with a kickin’ chorus. The song is driven by hints of TOOL but these boys from the New Orleans area take it to another level.

If you want to be mesmerized then check out “Romantique Life”. I’m not one that is totally into progressive music but when you can add the depth of bands like OASIS, PORCUPINE TREE and TOOL and be aggressive you have something special. The music is haunting yet hard-edged on “Romantique Life” which really brings the song to life.

Bones Theriot (guitar) goes off the hook on “Cinder Tin”. The song starts off in a trance-like state that puts you in a meditation mood with the subtle keyboards of Brett Guillory and the midsection of John Rodrigue (drums) and Kenneth Wilson’ (bass) but as the song evolves Bones takes hold of center stage with some killer guitar soloing.

With “Sneak Peek” I felt ABIGAILS GHOST could have picked up the pace a bit, but what saves the track is Theriot’s David Gilmour-style playing. Some of the tracks have a lull side but with uplifting choruses that makes the tracks bright. Once I reach “Easy A” it is baseline with no excitement then I start to dose and the song takes off. The guitar and keyboards explode for a few seconds and the song then ends.

I love acoustic work and ABIGAILS GHOST end the record with a sweet tune called “Grave Concerns” which just show these guys have what it takes to last in the music business.
