Sweden ’s AXENSTAR just released their third CD called “The InQuisition”. The CD opens with harpsichord keyboards sounding like Lurch playing from the “Adam’s Family.” Then BAM… you have it!

AXENSTAR starts their assault with “The Fallen One” which is pure power metal that will make your ears ring. Great catchy hooks and power chords are the backbone of AXENSTAR. Just imagine them sounding like POWERAGE, a band from years ago that used to play Iron Maiden covers.

The production on this CD is great and you can hear all aspects of each instrument.  “Daydreamer” will be huge; this song has everything that music fans will love. I have listened to the song so much I think it is wearing out the CD. The song mixes power with classic hard rock. It has a fantastic chorus, haunting keyboards, running guitars, and the balance of the music is perfection.

AXENSTAR slows thing down with their next tune “Drifting” The guitar work on this song shows the versatility that AXENSTAR has. When I listen to “The Inquisition” for some reason it brings back memories of the late eighties, where the music had great harmonies and good tunes. Great CD!
