Ahh, being young, playing music and having the world at your feet is just one thing that can be a dream. Well that dream is coming true for the youngsters in the Bobby Kidd band, who hail from Melbourne, Australia.

Bobby released his latest EP “Breaking Me Down” last year and hasn’t looked back. Show after show, interview after interview, back and forth to the studio and making special appearances is all part of paying his dues. As a young and growing artist Bobby shows a soft acoustic side and brings class to his music but also knows when to kick it up.

When I first heard Kidd I thought of the early days of Jon Bon Jovi , trying to make it in New Jersey and Kidd’s sound is similar with a more laid-back feel.

You gotta check out the first track “Everytime You’re Near” and you will become an instant fan. You get some soft vocals that bring excitement with a smooth acoustic backing. The music is uplifting and Kidd’s vocals are on fire. A killer track that the youth will be drawn too is one essence that Kidd posses beside the clean-cut look and cleft chin makes a statement of his image.

“Breaking Me Down”, the title track, is another great tune. Adding some keyboard elements gives the song depth but the range of Kidd’s voice is the key.

My favorite track has to be No Longer My Own which shows Kidd is a class act. The song goes from soft melodic acoustic ballad to a vibrant uplifting soft rocker. Kidd can still make the grade even with a soft approach.

The disc ends with a rocker called “Stayed Too Long”, it’s not too over the edge but just enough to give his fans a taste of his diversity.

Another sign of this young musicians budding stardom… I asked my eighteen year old daughter Sara what she thinks of Bobby Kidd, and he got two thumbs up!
