St. Paul, MN, home of metal messiah’s CWN ANNWN and with their 4th offering hitting shelves titled “The Alpha And The Omega” their ready to wreak havoc. Sirens blasting and suave guitar hits the first track “Red Sunrise” and it’s time to rock. One thing I admire with CWN ANNWN which is kind of unusual they really give way to bassist Mike Strohkirch who nails his thunder through the song plus dual the guitars by Neil James and Harry Rostovtsev are blazing.
“The Devil's Crest” is full throttle rock but I’m not totally sold on the vocals of Julie Schultz yet I was impressed by the music. One of my favorite tracks has to be “Black Star”, which seems to fit the style of Schultz’s vocals.
Not really into instrumentals but CWN ANNWM has a killer one with “Gaea's Rebirth”. I just sat back enjoyed the vibe, really cool….maybe my favorite track! Another great track musically is “Cirlce of Jericho” it has that power tempo that MAIDEN has with great breaks that gives you that adrenaline rush to turn the levels higher.
The title track “The Alpha and The Omega” is where Schultz shines vocally. Musically this band is awesome. I listened to how good their technique and approach to each song was arranged and they were on point. Each member has a chance to shine and show their talent and they do a heluva job here.
That final track “Nova” goes in a bit of a different direction and adds a much heavy sound in the vein of PANTERA.
