I’m gonna tell you right now, if you’re looking for an upcoming band and want the raw sound of the streets yet still show the fun side of music, then catch the wave of DIRTY PENNY. Our site has covered the last two Rocklahoma festivals and wanted to photograph DIRTY PENNY’s set but we didn’t have a chance in hell to get near the stage! To tell you the truth we ended up outside the massive tent this past year as that’s how many people were cramming in to get a glimpse.

The PENNY boys are about to release their new CD “Young & Reckless” and I recommend pre-ordering the disc and since they are offering autographed copies for only $10.00 you can’t go wrong.

Let me tell you a little about the new CD “Young & Reckless” as it will have you salivating with delight as it includes thirteen brain-damaging tunes. The disc starts off with the first single “If I Were You I'd Hate Me Too” which is a power driven hard-hitting classic in the making. Just listening to DP reminds me of old-school bands like PRETTY BOY FLOYD and early MOTELY CRÜE… bands that were full-throttle, no bull-shit prance around the stage rockers. These boys deliver pulsating chords, smash-mouth drums, pounding bass lines and what can you say about the destroying vocals of Binge? The 2nd track “In Luv with Insanity” is a tune I fell in love with because it has the essence of “Love Gun”-era KISS. Now you know the diehard KISS fans will chatter about the comparison but they will listen!

The next track, “LCS”, will surely gather the masses as a crowd favorite; it has that sing-a-long anthem style but just check out the next tune “On My Sleeve”; DP has bulked up the harmonies and the lyrical content will push them over the top on this one.

Other songs like “Dead At 16” have the musical flair of AEROSMITH with a taste of sleaze, and Johnny Prynce (guitar) kicks into high gear and I also like the little bit of keyboards added to the tune as well.

Possibly my favorite tune off the record is “Run To You”, which brings out sounds from the PENNY boys I haven’t heard before but with master producer Johnny Lima what would you expect.

Rounding out the disc is the “encore” tune “Wrecking Ball” which is just a pure fun and motivating song that is an excellent way to close out the album

Let me say that I am a diehard 80’s sleaze rock fan and many of the best new bands these days are coming from Europe with the likes of CRASHDIET, BABYLON BOMBS, VAINS OF JENNA and many others but now we finally have a band to talk about here in the States and their name is DIRTY PENNY! And check this out… DP will be on tour here in the US with VAINS OF JENNA shortly. This is a dream come true seeing VAINS and DP together in a club atmosphere and I’ll be there for. Hope you all come out and support these boys because they ROCK!
