The new EMERALD SUN CD “Regeneration” explodes with ecstasy from start to finish and even goes beyond. You can conjure up many thoughts listening to this pulsating disc and the array of tasty tunes will send you over the edge. There are killer guitar riffs to masterful vocals and everything in between. I was hooked from the very first tune, “We Won’t Fall”, which is pure smash-mouth power metal at a high level. Just listening to this tune that start things off will make you an instant fan from the slashing bass lines by “Sheriff” to the pounding drums by “Wicked” and that’s not all. This is what it’s all about making music that makes you happy and at the same time pumping up your adrenaline level. And believe it or not this is not even the best track on the record but it is a killer start.
You have to listen to the pipes on Stelios Tsakrides, the man is a demigod. “Theater of Pain” can be called an anthem if you please as it has that excitement that will gather crowds and it gives you the chilling feeling that rises above others. Listen to those fucking dual guitars of Johnnie Athanasiadi and Teo Savage, they are downright Godly. “Where Angels Fly”… what more can I say but EXCELLENT! Up next the title track “Regeneration” opens with a keyboard montage by Jim Tsakrides that soars and soars. I can see all those fists in the air as EMERALD SUN emerge as the new entity in rock music.
Possibly my favorite cut on “Regeneration” is “Speak of the Devil”, which has the power of LOUDNESS and ACCEPT bringing it to acclaimed heights. The track blows away any track I’ve heard this year in metal music! This is one of those tracks that has longevity and will be known as the EMERALD SUN trademark; listen to the guitars sing, it’s just a phenomenal song.
Check out “Chasing The Wind” another kick-ass track. This is an epic melodic track that’s amazing. I can’t stress enough that this is a band to support by buying “Regeneration” and checking what they have to offer.
“Fantasmagoria” journeys’ to another spectrum and adds ex-SANVOISEN vocalist Vagelis Maranis, which gives the song depth and gives it a bit heavier and raw sound.
Ending the release is the bonus track “Holding Out For A Hero”, which was originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler. Thought this track is a little strange but they pull it off.
These guys are the total package so if you haven’t heard of them and you like old school metal and power metal with unbelievable guitars (that puts MAIDEN to shame!) plus is vocally stunning then pick this one up!
