FALLINGICE is trying to be like a well-oiled machine driving to the blissful levels of alternative music but the raw vocals of singer Vice, which brings levels of excitement at times, misses that one element that will bring the masses onboard.
The first two tracks on the album, “Unclear” and “Another Day”, are decent songs but I really don’t feel they will be breakout tracks. They are good but go nowhere. Same with the preceding song, “Inner Confusion”… Don’t get me wrong these guys can play and write OK lyrics but there is nothing going on here musically. I listened over and over again and was hoping for that adrenaline rush but it just didn’t happen.
“Breathing Machine” is unfortunately just bad. There is just no structure in this tune and the vocals are pitiful. The music does pick up halfway through the track but even the screams are just screams of pain.
Now I do like “Hands In Chains”, it picks the pace up a bit and the vocal style changes, which I did like but the following track “Desired” once again goes back to mediocrity. I mean there is no highs with the music; just basic blandness. I was really hoping for more and it just didn’t happen. I am not sure if they are going for that NIRVANA style but FALLINGICE is just not cutting it.
Please, please help these boys and on the ninth track… God said onto you I have delivered the tune “Memories” which will stand out. Well, God works miracles and has delivered them a pretty fair track that gives (some) redemption. Some diversity, a little different style and I feel some emotion with Vice’s vocals. Nice track, please give us more of this…it even has some cool guitar work too.
Did these guys just listen to METALLICA because “Too Bored To Die” just bumped up the levels. The vocals are still killing me but the music’s not bad on this one either.
A lot of releases end with a killer tune and it’s the same in this case. It’s their best track and a pretty amazing tune in “My Cold Heart”. It slows things down and FALLINGICE hit you with a mega-ballad. After shredding on many tracks these boys do have something to offer and maybe ballads and songs of this style is where the stars lie for them?
I really can’t say you need to add this one to your collection but you can check these guys out and you make the call.
