The band… Freewheeler, formed early in 2001, hasn’t quite reached their potential. After listening to this 4-song EP., I think they need a little more work. The music is inspired by the fun-loving rockers like AC/DC, Kiss et al., but their work is raw, and the songwriting leaves a lot to be desired. The melodies are rockin; and kept me on the fast track but the lyrics made me veer off course. By themselves, the lyrics are ok but they just don’t fit with the melody so putting them together for me was similar to “nails across a blackboard.” If I have to pick a favorite, it would have to be the first song, “Lil’ Rock ‘N’ Roll”, this song has a catchy chorus and after listening a couple of times I just can’t seem to get it out of my head. I think once these guys get a little more seasoned they will definitely be served up on my plate.
