Jack Frost’s new solo project Frost conjures up mental cruelty with an overabundance of metal maulers that bring life to the guitarist extraordinaire new release. One of my favorite vocal gods Ted Poley makes an appearance on the opening track “Wasting Your Luv” and crunch time takes place as Poley makes things happen. Listening to “Out in the Cold,” Frost shreds on many tracks but the lyrical writing is not one of his strong points. One of the better songs has to be “Crucifixation,” where Neil Turbin takes the vocal lead and does a killer job wreaking havoc with his high-pitched voice while Frost pulls all the strings with a hard edge solo. There are some fine performances on here like the title track “Out In The Cold” with guest vocalist Terry Ilous (XYZ).
While this is a good release, you have to check out his live performance to get the full effect of Frost. Jack is truly an icon on-stage. He could be considered the New Jersey devil as he looks to seek and destroy. The CD is good but I don’t see myself playing it more than a few times.
