While always checking out new and different bands I stumbled across a group named HESSLER and what caught my eye was polish-born female vocalist Lariyah Daniels. As I watched the video for “Windy City Wild Child” and thought it was a bit tacky I also thought Daniels was amazing. The songs were surely a flashback to the good old rock culture of the 80’s and they had the essence of a song that would have good audience participation in a live setting.
The beautiful and sexy Daniels can put her vocals in overdrive, sounding like Lita Ford at times and even some of the tracks had a tasty flair of THE RUNAWAYS. Their latest disc “Bad Blood” opens with the track “Shark Attack” and it slashes with heavy guitar riffs by Igz Kincaid and at times sounds a bit IRON MAIDEN-ish.
“Crash’N Burn” starts off melodic and works its way to a heavier side. Lots of guitar solos; lyrically not one of the better tracks but Daniels lifts the spirits with the chorus. Pumping it up to eleven “Windy City Wild Child” is one of the tracks that can make HESSLER a household name. “Windy City Wild Child” will have the clubs rockin’ between the great vocals of Daniels, killer chorus and Igz Kincaid’s licks; I can see the metal horns raised up high!
One of the heaviest tunes on the record has to be “Kamikazi”. It is fast-paced in your face rock. Just listening to the disc you can hear HESSLER loves what they do. This is just some fun kick-ass rock and I can just imagine what they are like live.
With a soft-spoken voice Daniels sure highlights herself on the track “Scarlett”. Daniels is just not some eye candy but she can actually belt out songs and with the mix of soaring melodic guitar it shows HESSLER has diversity and talent.
The title track “Bad Blood” kinda has that punk sound; fast, hard and heavy in the vein of early “RUNAWAYS”. HESSLER shows many sides as a rising band and I guess its wait and see if they can make it to the top. Good luck to them and take a listen for yourself!
