Iron Mask was formed by Dushan Petrossi, the Belgium master of guitar, in 1999. He released his first album “The Arrival” with the band Magic Kingdom. After Magic Kingdom ran into some legal issues, Petrossi was signed by Lion Music to further his career. Iron Mask released their debut album “Revenge is my Name” in 2004 and this year they are poised to release their latest offering “Hordes of the Brave”. The CD starts off with “Holy War” - it's high-energy and fast paced, with high voltage guitar work by Dushan Petrossi. Petrossi is not the only highlight on this disc. You have keyboardist extraordinaire Richard Andersson with rip shredding ivory work, Anton Arkhipov on drums, and new vocalist Goetz Mohre. This is not just a guitar oriented CD. Unlike some other bands, Petrossi shows that the ego does not get in the way of the music. I really like “The Invisible Empire”, it mixes up the guitar works with the keyboards nicely. “High in the Sky” is the highlight track on the CD. The song has great balance and the vocals are amazing. If you listen to the music carefully, you can just imagine a fight scene with running horses and a fight to the death. Great track!!! “Crystal Tears” is another fantastic track. “My Eternal” is a melodic ballad with good lyrics and just the right touch of guitar. I am not going to tell you Mr. Petrossi is the best guitarist I have heard (He is good). You will have to make that judgment for yourself. But I will tell you that the new CD has some great songs. Check it out!
