Come here KITTIE… your open tracking “Kingdom Come” on your new release “In The Black” has a calming feeling and the melodic subtleness conjures up sweet dreams then I turn my head and convulsions erupt as the demons enter with “My Plaque”; heavy down chords over throw those sweet dreams and a vibe of SLAYER corrupts my mind!

How could such innocent looking woman drive the beat of annihilation but they can mix it up with the best of them and you will hear that on tracks like “Cut Throat”, with its mix of growls and clean vocals making for a great array of pleasure the way KITTIE approaches a seductive entity.

Don’t get confused with the MISFITS “Die, Die My Darling” because KITTIE’s “Die My Darling” is a complete different tune that sounds the bell of power chords and with the chants of a full concert-house I can see this song being a huge anthem.

Another killer tune has to be mentioned; “Falling Down” falls in between rock and metal only because the missing growls. I think the track could have the most attraction to metal fans that really don’t care for the growling vocal element. Still it holds the edge for true KITTIE fans. Listening to “In The Black” you really get two different versions of KITTIE; the beginning of the release is much heavier then the latter part of the CD, well up until “Ready Aim Riot” where it turns raw once again with the growling vocals.

In an industry that is dominated by male figures the niche KITTIE has an all female line-up that can hold the key, not saying females can’t excel because there is few female growlers out there such as THE GREAT KAT, but she even has a male backing band.

KITTIE is raw and bring the power with a great mixture of talent. The overall feel to “In The Black” has quality sound but ultimately lacks strong choruses. Not a bad release overall but not their best.
