The boys from Glasgow, Scotland who have been pounding the pavement since their self-financed debut “First Leaf Fallen” emerged back in 2003, and hitting # 12 on the UK charts with “When I Get Down” off their 2006 release “Cruel Little World” CD. These boys are nonstop yet they have yet to crack the US market and number six looks to be a charm.

The opening track “The Great Unknown” explodes in a mild manner bringing senses of PEARL JAM being melodic at points and bringing the power near the end.

You know I’m new to these guys just like many of you.. so just give these guys a shot; they can bring the goods. Listening to “When I Get Down”, it just rips. Great rhythm guitar by Mick Coll and Al Reilly’s leads are simply crushing.

Vocalist Kenny Collins is spectacular, check out “Save Me”, it’s vocally stunning and the Slash-like guitar tone by Al Reilly is unbelievable but what really sets the song on fire is the harmonies. Just because these guys sound like PEARL JAM doesn’t mean they can’t kick your ass. LOGAN are magical with their lyrics and musicianship and can be compared to a fresher sounding PEARL JAM.

Every once in awhile you come across a band like LOGAN that blows you away but it doesn’t happen too often. LOGAN is the full package; just check out that shredding by Al Reilly on “Spin the Wheel”. Sophisticated, sultry and seductive can only be used to describe the song “Born to Run”; An amazing ballad that will have the lighters lit and raised high.

The deep, dark and harsh “Hurricane” brings a whole other dimension to LOGAN; heavy down tuning in the mold of BLACK SABBATH but still holding that fine LOGAN essence. Reilly goes off on this track too.

This is an amazing CD and should really be added to your collection. The boys opened a Stadium show for BON JOVI and toured with ALTER BRIDGE and HINDER, so they are no-fly by-night rockers. This release also brought veteran producer Keith Olsen to the table and he’s worked with past greats such as OZZY, WHITESNAKE and THE SCORPIONS. Pick this one up!
