If you can dream of a calming feeling with sweet sounds it might lead you to think of the heavenly vocals of Michael Bormann. Bormann’s vocal’s are comparable to James Christian of HOUSE OF LORDS and Michael Voss of MADMAX (with a little bit of vintage Jon Bon Jovi thrown in for good measure) and has great range. He can rock with the best of them yet he also has that AOR vibe that’s extremely melodic. In other words, you will do some neck snapping during certain tracks and tears will come to your eyes with others. Bormann is the full package that drives music fans wild and you will hear that on his new release “Different”.

The opening track “Life Is A Miracle” starts off with a knockout punch that has a beat that will be burnt into your memory. This is one of those tracks that you can be anywhere in the world and you will hear that beat in the back of your mind and start to chant!

Let’s rock and bring it up a notch… Bormann’s “To The Top” has the essence of a killer rock tune yet adds some classy piano and slicing guitar which makes this more than just a rock tune. It brings back memories of past greats like Bryan Adams that actually put effort into a legendary tune.

This is the kinda stuff I love; “Think Twice” is a subtle ballad with acoustics and keyboards that makes a sentimental journey through your thoughts. Sit back and dream as your eyes will shed a tear. This one hits home because a very close personal friend of mine and me recently cried together over this exact matter.

“My Favorite Time” is a cool track that reminds me of a chorus that everyone can sing along to. Has a church-choir feel (or a hillbilly outback) to the track. I just like it!

Michael hit me with some rock on “Breathless” as it has the twang of ZZ TOP with a great killer chorus. I loved the guitars on this one. This is another tune you and your boys can enjoy and sing along to. Michael, you’re known for your singing but man you did a killer job on the strings! This could be one of my favorite tracks…

Let’s bring it down a bit and wipe the sweat off your brow and settle in for a sweet ballad with “Don't You Tell Me”. It features nice acoustics. Funny, as listening, I am reminded of Tina Turner for some reason….

Now here's maybe my favorite track, “Who Really Wants To Get Older”. This is in-your-face rock with Bormann’s vocals taking total command. It’s musically great and vocally phenomenal!

“No Way Out - It Hurts” is another up-tempo rocker that fans will adore. Soft at times yet will uplift your spirits.

In “Was Mir Fehlt”, Michael sings a soft ballad in German to close out the record and its killer.

Different” is a great mixture of all sides of Michael Bormann. You also have some special guest musicians that helped on this release such as Eric Ragno (keys) along with Andreas Rippelmeier, Chris Ivo, Lanvall, and Marco Grasshoff but a majority was done by the man himself Michael Bormann. I have always been a fan of Mr. Bormann and “Different” is one of the reasons to enjoy his musical dream. I love the soft ballads and heavy rockers; you get memories of classic rock tracks along with a spiritual feel at times. You also get lyrics you can relate too. “Different” has it all. Pick this one up!
