Being from abroad and with no respect from the music community is not the easiest thing to swallow, and that’s why many turn to their own solo careers. I’m talking about Italy’s Nil Durden. You have a dedicated intelligent musician like Durden being in different bands but just not the quality and direction he wanted to follow. As he approached 2007, it was time for Durden to follow his own path of solo artists. Durden worked his magic for a year or so and at the end of 2008 his first solo EP was released “Heads or Tails”.
A little blues, and a little backbeat in the mold of THE BLACK CROWES as the first track “Findaway” sets the mood. “Just To Kiss You Goodnight” follows the folk route in the style of Michael Murphy's “Wildfire”. It’s nice to see a rocker follow his heart and go the sensitive path as Ron Keel did going from rocker to country. Check out “Nothing Right Lately”.... the beginning of the track sounds a little like THE WHO’s “Baba O'Riley”. Durden gets a little heavier on this track but still holds the magic of his heart. The last track “Dreams and Dimes” mellows out like a good fireside song. Lyrically the EP is amazing, vocally tasteful and if you’re in a sensitive mellow mood this is the perfect CD for you.
