Nightmare Records once again searched the globe and came up with a gem in POWND. POWND originating out of all places Kentucky (yeah, the home of the famous Derby has also turned over the dirt and bred a new vibe of success).

Two Brothers Michael and Ronnie Duncan collaborate on some of the most underlining melodic sounds and raw essences of killer tunes; you will be drawn to the light of “Circle of Power”. Michael’s vocals are pulsating with energy as Ronnie hits you with his rhythms. Lead guitarist Rick Sargent has the perfect sound for the band he is not over powering he adds just the right touch.

The first track that sticks out is “Blind” it could be a true classic with rockers and power metallers alike. Michael’s vocals caress your imagination with mind-boggling thoughts about high-powered vocal icons. I know it’s a weird combination but I would sum up Michael’s vocals by melding Geoff Tate QUEENSRYCHE with Rick Sanford LEGS DIAMOND, powerful with great range.

“The Stand” is another mesmerizing song that will emphasize my comparison of Tate and Sanford. “The Stand” is the highlight track on “Circle of Power” and should be their trademark song. It’s filled with fantastic hooks, excellent vocals and a phenomenal arrangement.

Check the guitar work on “Changes,” a power ballad that Sargent totally shreds on this track and takes the song to another level. You can go from track to track and find diversity in every song, which makes this an exciting CD. You get the raw edge of aggressive metal with melodic overtones of power metal and the changing style of vocals will amazing you, going from Bobby Blitz to King Diamond to Tate. So get ready to be pownded by “Circle of Power.”
