In the vein of modern rock bands like 3 DOORS DOWN, HOOBASTANK, and NICKELBACK comes Seattle-based REDLIGHTMUSIC; implementing their own unique sound into a musical genre that needs all the help it can get. Now don’t be scared! Just because I said SEATTLE does NOT mean this is “grunge!” Fronted by former CANDLEBOX guitarist and song writer Peter Klett, REDLIGHTMUSIC is definitely not your typical Seattle band.

Showcasing his vocals as well as his guitar playing, Klett is joined by fellow guitarist Tom Woo, bassist Jason T. Phraner and drummer Keith Ryland for the bands debut, self-titled release which I just can’t take out of my CD player. What a debut! The CD is packed with incredible arrangements, potent harmonies, exceptional musicianship, well thought lyrics, and catchy melodies that you’ll be humming in your sleep. I guess the best comparison I could give to anything I’ve heard before is to bands like SPLENDER or FLICKERSTICK with just a “touch” of the classic rock sound of FLEETWOOD MAC. Any fans of these acts will absolutely adore this release.

REDLIGHTMUSIC is a real labor of love for Klett which was born in the shadows of his own personal battles with addiction and substance abuse. However, without climbing high atop a “soap box,” Klett is able to relay these experiences energetically, spiritually and with the focus and promise of a positive future.

Right from the start, the CD hits you straight between the eyes with “Say It Again,” an energetic and powerful paean with some incredible guitar work and an absolutely killer chorus. “Hollywood” has some almost enchanting guitar chords and tracks like “Fading Away,” “Beautiful,” “In The End,” and “Turn It Over” all have some really nice chorus’ and stand out for being some of the more commercial sounding tracks. “Face The Day” is a heart-felt power ballad which grips you with its soothing melodies followed up by “A Cigarette” which is just so emotional in its essence that it’s one of those rare songs which just cuts through you from start to finish and features an intense guitar solo. My favorite track though, is a song entitled “Terrified” - which not only expresses the sheer chemistry of the band itself, but also showcases them as individuals as well.

I cannot say enough about this CD. REDLIGHTMUSIC has really impressed me and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these guys. If they’re this good on CD, I can’t imagine what a live experience would be like; but I am hoping to find out someday soon. Time to hit New York, guys! Come on… please?
