SISTER is some bad motherfuckers. We first caught their wave back in 2007 when we reviewed their sophomore release, the “Ain't Going Home” E.P., which received four stars. Well they’re back again with their 4th release “Deadboys Making Noise” and with their relationship with CRASHDIET’s Martin Sweet and Peter London and Sweet doing the mixing you know this one’s going to pump adrenalin.
From past releases SISTER morphed themselves into an icon-like image. These guys play from the heart and give every drop of blood as offerings. Not only slashing the sleaze genre, these boys can rock with any of those high profile hard rockers. The opening track “Too Bad For You” brings back memories of early guttural ALICE COOPER tracks. What I love about SISTER is they hold the key of background vocals to high standards and that adds dimension so fans can join along.
If I can sum up SISTER I would compare them to a rock sounding version of WEDNESDAY 13 / MURDERDOLLS with a glam look. I love the great hooks and the punch-driven lyrics will drive these boys to the top. The songs are fast-paced the way rock is suppose to be played but not one lyric is lost is the translation.
“When You Fall” turns up the distortion just enough to make the chicks nipples jiggle! This tantalizing gem starts off with thumping bass lines by Rikki and seconds later the boys kick it in - just a classic track to sing along to.
What I like most of all is these boys are not one-dimensional. If you check out “I Don’t Mind If You Die” it brings the sensation of the MISFITS. SISTER is on a fast pace to capture the new fans with “Deadboys Making Noise” and will surely get recognition from the rock world.
This is pretty wild; as the last song “I Don’t Mind If You Die” ended at 2:21 seconds I kept writing this review with my headphones still on and to my surprise seven minutes into the 7th track (that ended at 2:21 mind you) I got to hear a killer acoustic track called “Chop the Top”. I am not sure if this was an error on SISTER’s part or just a hidden track but if you got the same CD as I did you will be delighted with this tune. I love acoustic tracks and this one is a highlight for me. With the addition of that one acoustic track the CD rating jumped up to 4.5 Stars for me! Check these guys out and pick up this new SISTER CD.
