One thing I have to admire about a band that works their butt off to make the grade in music. Money is a key factor along with time and dedication. I know many good bands that fell through the cracks because of dedication, finances and will power to overcome the normal day to day of life. Well THE BRINK is striving to achieve that goal. Releasing one EP in 2007, “Road To Wembley”, that got rave reviews, the band pounded the pavement playing live shows while working on the new EP “One Night Only”.
THE BRINK has a flair for catchy hooks, good melodies and great musicianship. The opening song “I Know” has the vocal feeling of DAVE MATHEWS as supplied by Matt Strafford but enters the pop world with a smooth melodic approach. The tune is radio friendly and will gain attention from both the rock world and melodic/AOR genres.
“One Night Only” has a bluesy rock feel and a rhythm baseline that will have your feet tapping. Kinda reaching out to southern rock roots and I loved the reeling guitar solo by Alex Bittles which brought me back to the great solos of THE OUTLAWS.
“I Want It” is a hit maker which is exciting and powerful with Strafford adding slicing vocals and the guitar work by Bittles is exceptional. To show THE BRINK is a class act they end with a tasteful keyboard instrumental called “Fin”.
Check these guys out and pick up their new EP “One Night Only”.
