After all, the AOR and power metal releases coming from Frontiers Records they made a tremendous signing with THE MURDER OF MY SWEET. The band can reach out and touch fans in the Rock, Pop, Symphonic, and Goth genres. This is truly a unique band that happens to be fronted by the luscious Angelica Rylin and she not only posses a sweet, innocent look this young vixen has huge vocal talent.

The opening track “No Evil” tantalizes the ivory’s and bellows classic symphonic riffs. Even with the heavy addition of keyboards THE MURDER OF MY SWEET seems to cling on to killer lyrics and melodies.

THE MURDER OF MY SWEET will surely be compared to EVANESCENCE but I feel THE MURDER OF MY SWEET have more hook-filled tracks. Andreas Lindahl’s keyboards are haunting yet have an uplifting spirit. The songs have the depth of a full orchestra due to Lindahl’s keys and the drumming of Daniel Flores really insinuates the power level that echoes greatness.

Check out “Bleed Me Dry” and then check out platinum recording Christian rockers SKILLET’s track called “Awake and Alive”. Do you hear a similarity? Musically…both tracks kick into high gear and just explode.

Many of these tracks would kick ass live especially “Tonight,” just the power of the keyboards and the range of Angelica is so inspirational and with the addition of a great light show THE MURDER OF MY SWEET could be looking ahead to stardom.

One of things I like about THE MURDER OF MY SWEET is all the songs have great structure and churn along like a well-balanced machine. The guitars by Daniel Palmqvist are subtle yet take a step forward on a track like “Revolution.”

“Death of a Movie Star” is a good song for a movie soundtrack but for me it’s just a little out there but overall still enjoyable at the end of the day.

If you’re looking for powerful female vocals and a phenomenal musical dream-come-true then this is the CD for you. Add this one to your collection alongside the other great female-fronted Power Metal Queens and Goth rockers. It’ll fit in there somewhere, I promise!
