With UNDERRIDE making waves with their stellar debut release "One Of Us" in 2008 fans couldn’t wait to hear what the future would bring. Well it’s 2011 and the wait is over “Distorted Nation” has just made its way to store shelves and the internet market, so let’s see if UNDERRIDE can surpass those great reviews from 2008.
I see the smoke right from the start; “Another Way Out” blasts the pulsating neck vessels with ecstasy. This opening track is killer and I feel an anthem and those background vocals just make a huge impact.
Never having really listened to the original of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” makes this song even better for me. It rocks just the way UNDERRIDE does it. UNDERRIDE is just a good all-around band that shows the level of stardom and with the Slash-like guitar work by Princess and Suzuki Sixx, it should bring UNDERRIDE some major attention.
Check out Rev’s vocals on “Love is Like Dying”; is this guy amazing? I think so. I feel an essence of Sammy Hagar in his vocals on this track. I’m really enjoying Distorted Nation so far.
You know bass players don’t get much attention but El Barto’s thumping bass lines make you take notice big time on “Don’t Walk Away”! Thumbs up for you El!
“Blinded by You” is another outstanding track that makes you take notice and ending the disc are two tracks (“Candy Girl” and “Road To Nowhere”) that were re-mixed from their 2008 release "One Of Us".
Overall this is a great CD to add to your collection. There are no fillers here just pure rock that pumps!
