Ever since reviewing the first VOODOO TERROR TRIBE demo “Mandala” back in 2005 I became an instant fan but through the years and vocal changes VTT has really exceled with power. Their latest E.P.,  “A Walk In Hell”, with five new tracks (one includes a rendition of Billy Idols “Rebel Yell”) is sure to make the grade.

The disc opens with a mass-appeal track called “Screaming Dreams”. The tantalizing synth work by Emir Erkal rings true for the industrial side of music but settles into a semi-melodic song. I feel a haunting sound with the mixture of heavy down-tuning that cuts like a knife. Great background vocals give the song full body and depth as front man Gil PZ brings the raw sound ala Phil Anselmo (ex-PANTERA) to light.

“Deviancy Amplification Spiral (DAS)” is really an unusual song with many twists and turns. The tune starts with some classy synth work reminding me of eighties style but turns a 180 degree. The main entity that holds the song together is the chorus that will have fans chanting along.

You wonder why VTT would want to cover Billy Idols “Rebel Yell” but one listen and you will find out for yourself. The song explodes with screams from hell. The addition to the hidden gem is those synth tracks. The midsection of bass master Primer and drum basher T-Bone must thrive on songs like this cause these boys nail it.

The tile track “A Walk In Hell” sure is the shining star on the disc. Gil PZ shows great technique that has star quality. The structure of the song is beyond greatness and should put VTT on a fast track. The lyrics bring a darkened shadow feeling over the song with the musicianship being way above the norm.

All hell breaks loose on “Bloodsoaked” with its fast, aggressive sounds compared to the rest of the disc. The pummeling bass and drums are massive with blood-dripped fingers of guitarist Emir snatching the spotlight. Screams from hell soar from the vocal chords of Gil PZ that will kill your membranes, so settle back boys and girls welcome to the VTT house of horrors.

A Walk In Hell” has a diverse sound from track to track from melodic industrial to very aggressive; many twists and turns that will bring new and old fans together to rejoice.
