Unsettling the dust off an era in music with the wind passing, you’d think a musician would give up and call it a day. But as I searched the net and hit upon MySpace checking to make a new find for our site, I came across a band that caught my ear. It was not the usual metal, alternative or goth music; it was a fine blend of the classic rock which does not get recognition these days. As I listened to the few tracks of samples, the music drew my attention to how good these guys are.

I did not read their bio or any information; I went purely on the tunes and contacted them right away. A few days later, I got a package with a CD, no tracking, no band member listing-- just a CD in a jewel case with no cover. I thought, “what the hell, let’s check out the tunes;” there were fourteen in all. The opening song “Megaton” brought an anxious desire for high classic music in the vein of Lenny Kravitz meets Oasis. The vocals are smooth and delightful as they mesh with the superb background vocals. The arrangement on “Lockdown” is bluesy funk, yet the chorus is vibrant which brings the song to a higher ground.

You haven’t heard anything yet until you’ve heard “Bury You.” Excellent, almost Nirvana-like; it makes the chills run down your spine. The elevations on these songs are simply amazing and they have that chorus line that excites. You would think a metal head like myself would trash this CD, but we listen to everything and this is a release that has elements of class, from the musicianship to the lyrics. The Dramagods formerly known as Population 1 are fronted by none other then the master of Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Welcome back Nuno, this CD is the best yet and your vocals are by far fantastic. The magic has risen to the top so keep the flame alive. Great CD!!!
