With the ever-growing knowledge of music enhanced with video games like Guitar Hero POWERGLOVE has held the success in the past couple years; the driving force in some of the best video games to date. The Arlington, Massachusetts based band call their music video game metal.

In 2005, they released their first EP “Total Pwnage” and back again in 2007, "Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man" album. They play a variety of heavy metal/speed metal covers of popular video game music such as "Tetris" and "Power Rangers". Check out their video for Mario Minor Some tasty licks.

Now getting to "Metal Kombat for the Mortal Man”, if you can make a mold of Yngwie and ANTHRAX that looks kind of like GWAR you would have POWERGLOVE. These boys annihilate your typical power metal, speed metal artists of today. The shredding guitar by Alex Berkson and Chris Marchiel is just unheard of, both are off the hook and make Yngwie look like second hand news.

I love the concept brought forth by POWERGLOVE and you really have to check the technical mastery of musicianship. For instance, “Fight On” will mesmerize the traditional instrumental power metal fan, but the bystander that has yet to taste Instrumental godliness is missing the boat. People might say I am not a video game fan so why would I even want to listen to some mechanically driven computer music, Hark listen up people this might be one of the best instrumentals with hints of vocals added in the world. I am not into instrumentals myself but if you can overlook the non-vocals, you will see for yourself that this is a masterpiece.

All I can say this CD is one of the best and if they could find the perfect vocalists to fit their style, their will be no limitations to their success.
