For anyone thinking the 80's Sirius U.S. Summer Tour featuring Rick Springfield, Men At Work and John Waite was going to be a boring show featuring older stars you are entirely incorrect!!!  Rockeyez was invited to attend the August 26th show at the Toledo, Ohio Zoo Amphitheater to witness one great performance by these great stars who gave a lesson to the younger performers of today.  These bands play live, no backing tracks with no garbage mixed in and what a show.  The John Waite Band opened the night with a shorten five song set featuring "Change", "When I See You Smile", "Bluebird Cafe", "Missing You" and closing with a resounding "Whole Lotta Love".  I have been a tremendous fan of John ever since the Babys first hit and in my personal opinion his voice just continues to get stronger and stronger like a fine aged wine.  From his beautiful ballads to a full out classic like the Led Zep closer John can go from a balladier to a bad ass rocker at the flick of a switch and sound fantastic.  The band consisting of Tim Hogan on bass, Mark Ricciardi on guitar and Alan Child on drums rounded out a strong outfit that hit soft when needed and hard to show their versatility.

Next up was Men At Work and to be completely transparent Rockeyez was given no photo access and no clearance for the band so we cannot give you any information or details concerning them...sorry.  Closing the show was a young newcomer named Dr. Noah Drake...just kidding.  Mr. Rick Springfield fresh off his 73rd birthday just completely kicked ass and took names much to the delight of several 100 ladies in the audience!  First it's really impossible to believe Rick is 73 seeing him on stage with the energy of an 18 year old.  People might not think of him as an accomplished guitar player however he doesn't phone in a performance and can play with the best of them while playing resounding solos as well.  Starting the set with "Affair Of The Heart" straight through to the closer "Jessie's Girl" Rick and his band hardly let up for one second much to the delight of a sold out audience.  The band was tight and played the hits to perfection again live with no backing tracks, how refreshing to be able to report that to you guys!!!  Playing for almost 70 minutes Rick hit on all of his greatest hits while giving InSite on his life with depression which was really touching to this reviewer, to be able to trust his fans with his life like that was something you don't normally see in this day and age...no wonder his fans continue to love and support this tremendous person.  In conclusion sadly this tour has come to an end as of the writing of this review however Rick and John continue to tour so I would encourage you to go to their websites and attend a show near you as you won't be disappointed!!!
