Coming out of Finland, The 69 Eyes has the vocal-style and attitude of famous ‘bad boy’ Billy Idol mixed with some Peter Steele of Type O Negative.

The music is a bit darker than Idol but has the same kind of catchy tunes that Idol projects. I describe the image of the band as Backyard Babies meets punk. It’s hard to believe this band has been around since the early nineties and have not made a big splash in the music market yet. The music on “Devils” is slow but powerful.

“Nothing on You” rocks like “Rebel Yell” Billy Idol. “Sister of Charity” sounds like it came from a Roman Catholic hymn and even has the background vocals filled of a higher power. It’s wild that The 69 Eyes finally pump it up on “Lost Boys” which has the flare of Night Ranger's “Eddie Comin’ Out Tonight”.

This band has everything going for them. The only problematic thing is that listeners will have to get through the Peter Steele-type vocals. The music, the lyrics, and the image is excellent. “Beneath The Blue” is an eye-opening tune that would be a great closing song ending with the lyric ‘baby I’m coming back.’

I really can’t say there are any bad tracks on “Devils” and I recommend that fans of Billy Idol, Type O Negative, & Danzig check these guys out.
