I guess with a title called, “Defying The Stereotype” I’d better give a listen. LANDON a 4-piece rock band from California has a bold statement to prove! The band fronted by female singer Landon (no first or last name given) shows attitude with flavor!
LANDON’s opening track “Only 20” has a soft feeling of early BLONDIE with a nice groove and feel. Track-two “Hush” again, good groove! I just have a problem with the effect on Landon’s vocal on the first two cuts. She has a great voice and adding the layering effect is distracting. Let’s hear the real deal! The band throughout the CD shows good dynamics, chops and most important, they let the vocalist shine. The best cut on the CD is “Dirty Virgin.” The song has great arrangements, strong lyrics and a great sound! It Rocks!
I really dig the band. LANDON has a lot of potential. I would like to catch them live. Reports from reliable sources on the Coast that have caught LANDON live have nothing but great things to say.
LANDON, being a new kid on the block, I wouldn’t have been so bold to choose the title they did. Because “defy” and “stereotype” are two strong words! The CD is a definite buy and in time, this band will definitely grow into its own. Landon has the pipes and lyrics to put up and the band fits well! As I said, I dig it! I would put this band on red alert watch! Check out the video’s on the website.
Rock On!
