BONE SHAKER a three-piece metal trio from Wisconsin has their debut album out titled “Bang Your Dead”, released on Turkey Vulture Records. Let’s get started. Opening the CD is an old school metal guitar riff oriented sounding “How We Rock”. The band makes a good first impression with this high-energy tune but the lead vocals are lacking stability and range, but I actually dig the tune!

“Dr? Strange” keeps the pace up but the vocals again are lacking and the lead guitar solo is weak. Moving along “Hell and Back” has some nice guitar riffs but the vocals are really starting to kill me! The next few tunes are redundant again with bad vocals. I am starting to wonder if BONE SHAKER ever really listen to the vocals or do they really think David “Gonz” Gonzalez has a voice. “Gonz” as he is liked to be called can play a mean rhythm guitar and comes up with some nifty riffs, like in the song “Notorious”. I really like “Gonz”s guitar sound, and like I said he does come up with some good metal riffs.

The next few tunes have that double time speed. There are some decent riffs but nothing to hold my attention. BONE SHAKER has a cool name, some talent, but overall they need to really take a look at what needs to be addressed. If I have to spell it out I will, but e-mail me and I will tell you politely-- off the record.
