With two full-length releases under their belt COLDSPELL have released their new offering to the masses. “Frozen Paradise” has eleven tracks of some heavy duty rock and progressive sounds. Having listened over the period of a couple days, the tracks sway you in many directions but you have to admit these guys have some killer talent. Guitarist Michael Larsson is like the second coming of Jake E. Lee and Niklas Swedentorp has the aura of David Coverdale or Daniel MacMaster (BONHAM) to his voice. I’m sure fans will embrace this new disc with passion as it appears the band has with their uplifting lyrics and musicianship. 

Starting things off is “Paradise”, which is a seductive melodic gem that puts COLDSPELL in the upper echelon class of 2013 releases. The guitar work by Larsson explodes and with keys of Matti Eklund it gives the track full-body sound. “Angel Of The World” is a subtle rocker but shows COLDSPELL can mix in directional changes and jump genres bringing melodic and classic rock to new heights.

Listen to the masterful vocals of Swedentorp on “Life Has Just Begun”. It’s truly a sensational tune with tasty vibes of LED ZEPPELIN meets DIO that flow throughout the song. A highlight song for sure!

Jumping to “Life 2 Live”, COLDSPELL shows some progressive sounds that adds to the flare of the band.  COLDSPELL have massive sound that just needs more exposure to put them over the edge and I feel they have that chance heading to the three day Melodic Rock Fest 3 in the USA on Sept 29th and I am looking forward to experiencing the band live.

“On The Run” is pure power that highlights guitarist Michael Larsson. The man himself shows killer guitar licks with power chords to shining on the solos. One of the hidden gems in COLDSPELL is drummer Perra Johanson and bass master Chris Goldsmith that keep perfect tempo that makes COLDSPELL an entity.

“Fallin” is a song that drives COLDSPELL to ecstasy levels. You can sing along to it yet at times it takes off in another direction. The hypnotic guitar chords will draw you into the song and put you into a different mind-set.

Ending the disc is “Legacy” a song that was made for the arenas of the world. The power that COLDSPELL possesses needs to echo throughout the globe. At times I hear classic sounds of DIO and WHITESNAKE and many other Gods of the past.
