After countless EP’s and CD’s dating back to the early nineties Sweden’s The Confusions come up with a melodic gem. “5 AM” the new release is chock full of chart busting smooth tunes that show the maturity of the band as they grown through the years. The first couple tunes “It’s A Miracle,” “Imagination”, and “Silver” are good tunes but not exciting like “Window”, which brings the level a class up a notch. The band is reminiscent of a band from the 80’s called New Musik, and the vocals by Mikael Andersson-Knut, has a slight flare of Bono gone new wave. Check out “Artificial” and “Don’t Let the World Catch You Crying” that has success written all over them.
They truly will be a pop culture favorite and good sing-a-long songs for fans. The CD gets stronger as each song passes and I think The Confusions found their gold at the end of the rainbow with “5 AM”. The thing I noticed with The Confusion is they are a band made for the slower melodic songs than the heavier tunes. The highlight song has to be “How Do You Sleep?” That has a George Harrison / The Beatles feel and is a fantastic song that just happens to be the new single off “5 AM”. If you like melodic pop this is a killer CD to pick up.
