Well ALice Cooper is back at it again. I guess he got tired of clubbing the ball around and returns with “Dirty Diamonds.”
I am not going to go into how many albums, forty-fives, videos, & DVD’s Alice has. I am not going into - is he a man, myth, or legend. We know he is a man and a legend. We know Kiss and many others copped his brilliant antics. We know AC is the one of the founding fathers of Shock Rock. Going to see Alice is like seeing a Broadway play of the highest caliber.
“Dirty Diamonds” will bring back memories from the “Killers” days with songs like “Woman of Mass Distraction” and “Perfect” (which could be the best track on the CD). But to be serious, the new AC CD is a disappointment. Almost every Cooper album has had a bright spot including “Dirty Diamonds” but not many.
Alice hits you with a more laid-back CD with a minimal amount of high spots. This could go down as one the worst CD’s Alice has put out to date. The backing musicians don’t help either. Some of the songs will remind you of Bowie or the Ramones. Even “Dirty Diamonds” sounds a bit like Black Sabbath doing a James Bond theme song.
Alice even goes country with “The Saga of Jesse Jane” which vocally is phenomenal fitting perfectly with his deep vibrato. I just hope the Coop doesn’t turn country; I can’t see AC coming out in a cowboy hat and spurs. I don’t think the snake will fit with that particular atmosphere.
Alice, stay off the green and bring back the real AC!
