Formed out of the ashes of Pinwheel, Chris Petro, Angelo Fariello, and Salvatore Scoca were looking to the future to expand their musical imagination. Pinwheel also for a short time was the home of Britny Fox’s Billy Childs. It was a bit risky since Pinwheel did win the best hard rock act in 2001 by the Independent Music Industry, but in 2002 the new formation was in place Crashbox has arrived. These New York boys worked hard through the years and it has paid off in 2006 their debut was released. Crashbox self-titled CD is full of chunky riffs, great melodies and top-notch musicianship.
The production is pure quality and it should be because lead vocalist Salvatore Scoca took the reins. This is powerpop at its finest, reminiscent of Elvis Costello vintage years. “Radio” starts things off and if that don’t have your head snapping you better wake up. “Radio” is already on regular rotation on many stations and it should be. “Down” is another song that will give you chills, with the melodic vocals and acoustic strumming it gives you the vibe of Butch Walker. You get twelve songs that will brighten up your day with energy. The flamboyant style of music that Crashbox plays they will have success in a big way.
