What are the Aussies doing? Well, If you think they are supposed to only be about The Outback and Crocodile Dundee - think again! Checkout Daysend’s new release “Severance.”
It is not just plain old melodic rock. These guys pump out some hard core metal. The opening track “Born is the Enemy” has melodic and screaming vocals that rips the roof right off the house. The music is dark but I would not put these guys in the death metal genre as they are more of a heavy trash metal band.
“Countdown” has the feel of a melodic thrash similar to a Slayer soundthat is most impressive. This song is excellent and the guitar work by Aaron Bilbija is outstanding. Daysend stays focused throughout the entire CD with a perfect balance and some great bone crunching licks.
Daysend started their US tour this week and you should see them if you get the chance. America, get ready for the next invasion; this one is friendly with tons of energy.
Before I end, one of the best tracks on the CD is “Beggars with Knives” as the track is more melodic than the rest of the CD but still has the hard edge that DAYSEND projects throughout “Severance.”
