There is something putrid and fermenting in the mosquito laden, malaria tainted waters of Greece and its life sustaining H20 tastes ominously squalid. Oh, wait...I know the culprit, the source of this dilemma. It’s non other than Wrath of the one man (beast) Black Metal dervish - Dodsferd . Apparently planting chemical laden deposits into the water main again. Just picking up this CD leaves ample amounts of dirt under your fingernails. Its putrescence conjures dust clouds brimming with pestilence, channeled through the malignant wrath of sundry Grecian Gods. Fanciful words to describe such filth- I know, but none so true.
One aspect I duly admire in Dodsferd is their quaint charm with unique song titles. Case in point “Under A Broken Cross, I Buried Your World” which begins with a dulcet exorcist rambling much too proudly about implicated hellfire only to be (ominously enough) torn asunder, thoroughly, limb from holy limb by his demonic quarry. It’s less of a song though; it's more related to a psychodrama. Definitely an audio nightmare phantasmagorical. Musically, sonically and lyrically it pays incremental adulation to both Burzum and Craft but bolstered by heroin alley black masses and convoluted excursions in the sewer system. Rambunctious vomit, semen and blood omissions run the foray aplenty. A perfect symphony for tormenting every hapless soul condemned for an eternity to the ninth circle.
