The new album from HOUSE OF LORDS has arrived in the name of “Indestructible”. Hark the sound of a higher power as it streams through the opening song “Go To Hell”, and bursts into a pleasurable and powerful rocker. It is the perfect track to set up this album, their 10th studio recording, to be something special. HOL delivers as Jimi Bell goes off on a tantrum with an extreme solo and the golden-throated James Christian is masterful and seductive with his lyrics as it puts HOL on a precision course for something special here.

“Indestructible” which is the title track shuns the typical melodic rock mold and hits hard with the backbeat of BJ Zampa (drums) as he hooks up with Bell’s guitar work showing a much harsher side of the band. Truly, HOL are not your typical laid back melodic rockers dominated by the keyboards they once featured. These guys can pummel the eardrums yet at times they still know how to ease the senses.

“Pillar Of Salt” gives me a sense of Randy Jackson (ZEBRA). A song with massive appeal that shows HOL displays the entire package to perfection. The song is subtle with mind-bending lyrics that set you in the zone for a dream-like state.

If you are not hearing Jimi Bell as a guitar God with the track “100 Mph” you must be listening to a different disc. This guy explodes with pure pleasure busting at the seams. It’s fun listening to music like this because it brings musical bliss with each track. These are not songs that are all over the place. They all have direction and the good thing is they are songs that could be classified as heavy metal or melodic rock but the key is a great chorus and HOL has delivered and that are not even mentioning the killer harmonies and background vocals, which are on full display too.

What can I say about Mr. James Christian but to just listen to “Call My Bluff”, the man can be suave, subtle and explosive all at the same time. Can he hit the high notes? Shit YEAH!

HOL bring a softer side with “We Will Always Be One” and it shows the sentimental and powerful array of talent these master musicians have in this forgotten world of melodic rock. Only time will realize that “Indestructible” will rise to the top of the heap and will not fall short of prominence in this genre.

“Die To Tell” is another heavy hitter with Bell and Chris McCarvill (bass) dishing out the punishment and with the addition of Zampa bringing the thunderous drum sounds to the track. Truth be told it is a bit of an outcast in conjunction with the rest of the disc but is powerful as any.

“Another Dawn”, now why do I really have to write anymore? The damn records is the best HOL CD I have ever listened to in my opinion. Every song has an amazing chorus and the musicians are the best of the best and this particular song is my favorite track on the disc. Bell’s guitar work puts others to shame and I’ll say again that Mr. Christian is a God of voice while McCarvill and Zampa raise the bar for rhythm sections.

Others artists take note of the background and harmony vocals on “Eye Of The Storm” That’s really all that needs to be said about that track. Simply marvelous!

The fast-paced “Ain't Suicidal” has a Euro sound of ancient Rome with the added jaw-dropping guitar work of Bell blowing your mind. And ending the disc is another fast-paced track named “Stand And Deliver”. The song sure is a bit of a change of pace compared to the rest of the tracks but still holds the element of a great chorus that sucks you in.

“Indestructible” is the hardest-hitting and most cohesive effort I have heard from the band to date. Check it out when it hits the stores on June 5, 2015 on Frontiers Records.
