Gothic music plays a huge part of the music industry today, and keyboards are one of the main elements in that genre. In Heaven is about to release their debut CD on Burning Star Records and even before the release, the band is still in the mist of member changes. They now finally have a set line-up and hopefully the touring band will be as good as their debut CD.
In Heaven’s “Darchangel” is full of some good music with melodic keyboards and bellowing power chords. The production is top quality and the music will have you dreaming. The guitar work is not over powering and has traditional riffs. the keyboard playing by Antonis Ryakiotkis is the highlight of the band. The music itself is tight and has the vibe of EVANESCENCE.
Vocally Elvira is good and the songs are sung with soothing confidence. “Angel of Darkness” has those eerie keyboards in the vein of the movie the ‘Exorcist’ and has the feel of Wrath of Killenstein. I know a big part of the gothic scene is dark and dreary and In Heaven does a fine job on “Darchangel” but I don’t feel the excitement in the band. I am not saying that in a bad way. The band and music is good but for you to be a ‘force’ in any music genre you must have something exciting to offer. In Heaven falls short of that magic ingredient.
Even so, it is a very good debut and I can still foresee a follow-up release that could bring that magic to In Heaven.
