Who would have thought that the collaboration of four high-caliber musicians from two different parts of the world would come together so nicely especially when all four are established in their own right? Well look no further as KHAOS has arisen and they are looking to turn heads as their debut 5-song EP "Khaos Rising" will explore a new journey on its October 29th release. Front man Chandler Mogel, who is known for his in-your-face rock with super group OUTLOUD, shall add a new direction in his career with some bellowing AOR vibes that are positively atmospheric.
"Distress Signal" opens the disc with some heavy chords and has a trance-like sound with some killer leads by guitarist Mark Rossi. The screams of Mogel give that touch of excitement for a good start to the EP.
"Hated" starts with some keys that gives way to Mogel's vocals. The song is epic with the drive of the keys and guitar work almost in "soldier march" form but also turns direction providing suspense as to what's next.
Slowing things down a bit with "Reason To Die", Mogel brings the vocals down and at times give the sense of BON JOVI's "Wanted Dead Or Alive". The song shows the class act KHAOS is bringing progressive and classic rock sounds to new heights.
From track to track you never know what direction KHAOS is headed but once you hear "Mind Violence" you know for sure these boy know the rules of making good music. The song is a mystical dream with killer background vocals that add to the depth of the track. The mild power chords open the track and the slicing drums by Trevor Franklin elevate the excitement. The arrangements and the breaks are perfection and the song should make KHAOS a new entity in music.
The band looks to the future of the world with the track "Perfect Future", which ends the EP. The song talks about mistakes which are made and dreams staying alive but where will we be in the end. For me, this song reminds me of what BOSTON would sound like in these times with some killer guitar licks and vocals that can reach the stars. The song is lengthy at 5:54 and KHAOS does every second justice.
This is a great debut EP from KHAOS and a band to look out for. |
