Back in 2000 Killenstein sent out demos to gain interest in recruiting band members, label interest, management, etc. Many years has past with Killenstein playing the GothStock festival and other shows. As front man Killenstein pondered and has come back in 2006 with his first official debut release CD “Wrath of Killenstein MMVI.”
Killenstein explains this is only a taste of blood for fans to luster upon as the new DVD and their sophomore CD is being finished up as we speak… they are not death metal, they are the part of hell where dead kids go. Listening to the new MMVI and having been a fan for years now the music is addictive and the catchy guitar lines by Joe Coffey draws you to the light. You can call it evil; you can call it gothic, all I know it rocks. Check the song “The Raptus” its coming, it’s coming a spiritual awakening that will be burnt in your memory. I lent the CD to my mentor Sergio who is a Springsteen fan and he could not believe that he liked that style of music. Hey, Serg you might be coming out of the closet finally and admitting you’re a head banger.
Getting back to the review the CD is even wickeder than the original demo. I like the underlying sound that was missing from the original demo; this would be a great soundtrack for a SAW movie with the eerie keyboards. The added track “Victima” surprised me with the new direction for WOK as they take on more of a thrash metal vibe, which I liked to see some diversity in their music.
