The City of Lafayette, Indiana will be holding its heads high after a full-length release of Lorenguard’s first CD. In the meantime, this group has released a six song mini CD.
The six members of Lorenguard pump out pure epic power metal. These guys gel in a form that has been missing from the continent of the United States… The US needs more bands like Lorenguard.
Track-one starts off with deep narration, epic keyboards, and bells ringing. Then a kind of “slam in your face” speed hits. I can just imagine these guys live. Smoke rolling out onto the stage as Lorenguard appears with their intro and BAM! “Black Sails in the Moonlight” - a killer opening song. The balance on “Black Sails” is amazing. Rob Stith's vocals are unique, I can’t think of any other vocalist that compares to him.
The guitar playing by TJ Hunt and Chris Cruz will put you in a state of shock because these guys are mesmerizing. Just to think that these guys formed in 2004. They must have worked very hard to have a CD of this quality released after only one year of forming - astonishing! “Siege at Celendas” is another great tune which if you listen carefully to each instrument, you will find that every member of Lorenguard will impale you with their talent. (Unsigned? ...not for long!)
“Glade of Mists” is a fast tune but with a more melodic vocal style by Smith. Brady Sadler plays some killer drums smashing that high hat with rolling drums on this tune. “The Neveren Mountains” has haunting keyboards by David Russell which blends into the last track “Heir to the Ashes” which reminds me of a power metal Iron Maiden.
These guys are totally killer!!!
