Swedish rockers Nasty Kixx’ new CD “Hometown Blues” is a relief in many ways. I had recently been listening too much to hardcore metal and as a refreshing change, Nasty Kixx rocks out with sounds of Babylon Bombs and The Rolling Stones.
This band is all about having some fun. The songs are fast and popish with catchy lyrics. They are a band that will bring your spirits up when you’re down because you will not be able to sit still.
Fabio Esteban releases his power chords which will remind you of the punk style back in the day of the New York Dolls. I love these guys and this is really great stuff. If you’re a stones fan, every song on “Hometown Blues” will remind you of the early days of Mick and the boys. In “The Story Continues” Fabio goes crazy with his wild strumming and Trashcan Dan keeps in time with the vocals.
Nasty Kixx is totally refreshing - Sweden is bringing back the best in music these days. I like the mixing of the keyboards by Burt Backfire as they are not too overpowering. The track that highlights the disc is “Tragedy” because it gives you that original feeling of the raw energy that was present when punk was alive and well in Greenwich Village, New York City.
