The United States has finally reached the pinnacle in Thrash metal with Nevermore. Killer riffs, thrashing heads rolling, and non-stop pummeling run rampant with the release of Nevermore’s sixth full-length CD “This Godless Endeavor.”

The CD starts off with a fantastic tune called “Born” - Warrel Dane has never sounded better. His vocals are bone curdling yet melodic at times. We are not talking death metal or black metal, we are talking thrash metal. Guitarists Jeff Loomis and Steve Smyth are masters that will be recognized by the masses once “This Godless Endeavor” is released July 26th, 2005. You have the power of vintage Slayer mixed with sentenced Ville Laihiala sounding vocals. Some of the tracks will fry your brain as you crank it up to eleven. Checking out the cover picture of the CD reminded me of WASP’s “Headless Children” cover with an even more eerie feeling.

NEVERMORE try and pull off a ballad on “Sentient 6” and do a fine job but I’m not sure if hardcore thrashers will adapt to that style. You better not stray too long nearing the end of the song because NEVERMORE brings it home. The song could have been taken off the last Sentenced CD which is also killer. I particularly liked the song as it gave a different dimension to the band. Ending the CD is “This Godless Endeavor” that has a haunting King Diamond feel with the NEVERMORE trademark guitars. Break windows, kick down the doors, borrow the CD, or steal it -- but just get it.
