Oh NO they’re back, please lord don’t let it happen NKOTB I’m a head banger not a teeny bopper listening to THE ARCHIES, HANSON or NKOTB. I know my age surpasses me. I did listen to THE ARCHIES, HANSON and maybe a little NKOTB and as the world turns and our yearlings get some growth on their faces we reach puberty and a woman or man reaches their pinnacle, adjustments are made. I know I’m in a time warp but we did review the latest HANSON CD and it kicked ass, why not give NKOTB a shot too?

We are open to all kinds of music, and as I pop in the new KIDS CD The Block am I expecting the voice of McIntyre singing “Please Don’t Go Girl”, nah but fans that haven’t heard the band since their height might be a bit surprised. The CD opens with “Click, Click, Click” I am shocked as these boys grew balls, big balls. Even though I love metal I am also a fan of Seals and Croft, Cat Stevens and Michael Murphy “Click, Click, Click” is mellow and has a vibrant tone. Sure to be a radio favorite. The song is catchy has a great beat and will draw AOR and dance club fans into a frenzy. I hate to say it but my head was swaying and my feet were tapping. I’m really not a fan of sampling or tracking but it fits NKOTB.

The next song “Single” will shoot these guys back in the spotlight, truly an amazing tune and shows the maturity and expertise NKOTB posses. So get close, put the flame to the candle and start the cuddling. I just want to tell NKOTB, you know I am going to get shit from my staff for this but I am enjoying the release so far.

I would love to give some press to some of the special guests on the CD like LADY GAGA, THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS, TEDDY RILEY, AKON, NE-YO, but to be honest I have no idea who the fuck they are. I do know NEW EDITION. As you can see I don’t know my dance music, but I do know how to review good music and this CD is on fire. (Even more shit from my staff). You know I will hear “poser”!

“Summertime” is the single and for me was not my favorite track, it seemed too polished but still will be a huge tune for them. Where is Aretha Franklin because the beginning of “Grown Man” sounds a lot like Aretha’s “Chain of Fools” and I can feel the soul, so if you like the blues mixed with heavy thumping check this one out.

“Dirty Dancing” I would expect could be the next single, I am sure I will see the low riders with the huge Bose cranking this track. It’s a little heavy for a sentimental ballad but still a smooth track that will get the juices flowing.

Now this is it “Sexify My Love” should have been the single from the beginning. It would make a great soundtrack and can soar. All I can see is great things for NKOTB and The Block. “Sexify My Love” has the perfect element to reach out to a huge audience and be a smash hit and I expect it to get top rotation. Not just on the dance stations but jump genres, it will be one of those songs they play so much you will have to buy The Block.

“Full Service” has the beat, the keyboards, and the vocals, another smash and also features NEW EDITION. How can you go wrong? I guess listening to The Block brings me a sense and sound of the BUGGLES “Video Kill The Radio Star” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpoxqvjpWJg back in the day.

I mean how can you get a song out of a track titled “Put It On My Tab”? But I guess anything is possible and NKOTB do a great job. Well it’s over I made it through the entire CD without chocking and to tell you the truth I liked it. I even had my wife and two of my kids listen before I even told them who it was, my wife was snapping her fingers doing the wave and my two daughters, one is nine and the other seventeen both loved it. Looks to me NKOTB will reach the youth, the teens and the elderly, oops I better not say that because I’m a (few) years older then her. (cough!) NKOTB are back and better than ever, Congrats! Pick this one up and crank it.
