Like the old adage a good woman is hard to find so is it difficult to discover a great glam band, let alone one that can withstand the ravages of time, but Hollywood's proudest wavers of the freak flag the PEPPERMINT CREEPS are here to stamp out the conformist fire with six inch boots and impressive musicianship to match. Just like their own lipstick and hair enamored brethren (HANOI ROCKS, MÖTLEY CRÜE, TIGERTAILZ, GLAMOUR PUNKS, ect.) these chemically dependant, cross dressing, fashion conscience freaks from another dimension let it roar on their Cleopatra Records debut-“Cover Up”, which not ironically features a brilliant mock up of another bunch of transvestite New York rockers the legendary NEW YORK DOLLS and their debut album of the same name.

Bursting through your speakers like a hand grenade ready to explode the creeps strike lethally with Finnish sleazster's Hanoi Rocks and their ode to California sun n' fun hypocrisy “Malibu Beach Nightmare” a song brimming with quick drum lashes tailor made for the stellar jackhammer precision of the late, great Traci Michaelz. The glitter madness then continues with a doppelganger version of “Walk” by thrash metal titans PANTERA. Most notable in this arrangement is the near note perfect rendition of Dimebag Darrel's inhumanly dexterous solo pulled off quite amicably by Macy Malone. The next noteworthy track is an obscure oddity by KISS entitled “Talk to Me” from their disco laden 1980 album-“Unmasked”. Weird choice, but it works. And yes, you can bet your last stick of Mac eyeliner that the rambunctious sleaze patrol hedge their bets well with MÖTLEY CRÜE, returning victorious results indeed with awe inspiring likenesses' of “Danger” and “Bastard” both from “Shout At The Devil”-the pentemulate pinnacle of pseudo satanic glam metal. The percussive imitations of Tommy Lee are virtually spot on in both as Traci immortalizes himself once again as an exceptional anomaly in a long line of separatist, characterized skin pounders.

Other praiseworthy inclusions-“Bodies” by the SEX PISTOLS (Notice the clone like vocal snarl of Macy on this one and tell me he couldn't pass as Johnny Rotten’s illegitimate son), “If You Don't Start Drinking” by GEORGE THOROUGHGOOD AND THE DESTROYERS- which is pure, ruck rousing, frolicking fun. On the down side I believe an atrocity and fatal mistake was made in covering “Cherish” by Madonna. Brave? Indeed. Pointless? Definitely. Most assuredly the low point of an otherwise bovine release. I refuse to end on a sour note though, so I will say this-Please surrender your money and prejudices to this glam monument, at least if anything as a contribution to the memory of fallen glam icons and their fitting successors.
