A recent E Bay acquisition has transported me down memory lane. Bold recollections of attending high school football games, sitting high aloft in the nosebleed section just to stare at pretty girls.Ever the outcast, dressed in the finest thrift store heavy metal apparel I could muster, I proceeded to press play on whatever minuscule boom box of the day I was trudging around with me.Cue "Metal Health”, the title track. Frankie Banali's slovenly yet powerful drum intro sets the template for all that followed.

'Twas 45 minutes of head banger nirvana including-"Cum On Feel The Noize" a ludicrously suggested cover by English band SLADEthat unknowingly and unexpectedly became their biggest hit. "Love's A Bitch" their ode to the travesties of male/female relationships in power ballad format and of course "Thunderbird" the late Kevin Dubrow's inspired and heartfelt eulogy to legendary guitarist Randy Rhoades (who had co-founded QUIET RIOT nine years earlier and subsequently went on to find success with Ozzy Osbourne before dying prematurely in a freak plane accident)

For all of you salivating 80's six string virtuosos there is "Battle Axe" Carlos Cavazo's rather insipid attempt at prospecting the gold and glory from Eruption's mine.Does it work? Yes, to a degree, if going for melodics. But if it's technical adeptness or speed you favor, then no. Simply forgo "Slick Black Cadillac" to me it's just filler filtered through as a potential hit single, catchy as cat can do but ultimately it just falls flat.One of the albums long forgotten and sadly neglected jewels is "Run For Cover" proto-thrash in execution , due in part (I'm assuming) to the rapidly emerging NWOBHM scene in ascendancy at that time.This one stoked the fires for W.A.S.P.'s "Love Machine" and MOTLEY CRUE's "Red Hot" for straight ahead , full throttle double bass galloping.

The songs I failed to mention (not neglect) always elude me for whatever reason. I cannot even fathom the titles currently but maybe they were not meant to be heard or possibly that is my rather superstitious presumption. Overall rating: Seven sprays of Aqua net into the ozone layer.
