The Swedish/Norwegian band SAINT DEAMON formed in 2006 by drummer Ronny Milianowicz, coming out from a 7-year long successful era with Swedish/German melodic metal band DIONYSUS. He rejoined forces with DIONYSUS bass player Nobby Noberg and hooked up with guitar virtuoso Toya Johansson to form the nucleus of SAINT DEAMON.

The search was on to find the golden voice and they found a masterful vocalist in Norwegian Jan Thore Grefstad. Jan is most known for his impressive singing in Norwegian power metalers HIGHLAND GLORY and taking lead vocals for WILD WILLY’S GANG Ronnie Le Tekro's second band, a position he took over after Jorn Lande.

Ronny Milianowicz was co-writing in the past with PRIMAL FEAR, Toya has been co-writing immortal songs for SINNER and RIDE THE SKY. In 2006, he also collaborated with Joacim Cans HAMMERFALL and Uli Kusch (RIDE THE SKY, MASTERPLAN, and HELLOWEEN). I would consider SAINT DEAMON a super-band of exceptional proportions.

The CD opens with eerie acoustic keyboards instrumental called “The Exodus” mixed with narration entering into “My Judas,” a song which show thatJan Thore Grefstad is a phenomenal vocalist with tremendous range in the vein of Michael Kinske and Jorn Lande.

This is really a CD that has to be heard, amazing tunes such as “My Heart” a very melodic tune with killer lyrics. The song makes a quick turn half way through and Toya Johansson solo takes over.

“The Burden” goes in a whole different direction almost in a power metal OVERKILL sound. Seems the evil roots are driving SAINT DEAMON to a slight heavier out cry. Bouncing right back with “No Mans Land” that has the vibe of Viking metal. I love the array of mystical turns that sets fire to the disc. The musicianship is clear-cut amazement. At times the songs are a little heavier for a melodic rock fan but if you like great vocals in the style of HELLOWEEN, SAINT DEAMON is a killer CD and the guitar work by Toya Johansson is fantastic.

The last track “Run For Your Life” ends is fine fashion that mixes 80’s rock ala THE POODLES with an updated sound of metal, you gotta check the pipes on Jan Thore and Toya’s shredding is off the hook. This is just another fine release from the Frontiers label.
