New York, New York why do musicians of high standard like Jose Ferro formerly of AGENTZ, leave New York? Is it the weather, or a job, who knows but we lost another musician, a few years back to the West Coast. His music was silent for a period but Jose is back with vengeances and his new project THE SCREAMIN’ LORDS.
Yeah Jose is the VP of ESP guitars but that doesn’t mean the CD is squat until the press gets a hold of it, well maybe on this one. Check some of the guests on this little gem. Gus G (FIREWIND, DREAM EVIL), George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, DOKKEN), Kelly Keeling (TRANS SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, LYNCH MOB, MSG), Robin McCauley (SURVIVOR, MSG), Loren Molinare (LITTLE CAESAR), Chris Poland (OHM, MEGADETH). Ok the SCREAMIN’ LORDS have a fan base.
The debut CD “Long Live Me” was mixed by Mudrock (GODSMACK, AVENGE SEVENFOLD) and the power that smokes the disc is acclaimed. How can anyone say Gus G is not a presence on “Long Live Me” Gus has to be one of the best guitarists in music these days and you will hear his vicious playing on “Long Live Me”. Listening to the CD, you get the feel of some great past bands like BAD COMPANY and WHITESNAKE and more updated bands such as Germany’s SHYLOCK.
One of the standout tracks “Evil” has the total aura of WHITESNAKE with the melodic feel yet kicks it up a notch when original member Jason Gile shows he’s a competitor and doesn’t shy away with his own slicing guitar riffs. I guess you would be a little skeptical with the repertoire of musicians on “Long Live Me” but Jason’s a quality guitarist, and check out his guitar work on their rendition of FASTWAY’s “Say What You Will.”
Kelly Keeling & Robin McCauley do an outstanding job bringing the lyrics of Ferro/Keeling to life that gives the song quality of legendary artists. My favorite track was written by Ferro/McCauley which bring back really vintage days of SLADE. I loved this track and McAuley does his best Noddy Holder vocal impression with a hint of Kevin DuBrow (RIP).
Ending “Long Live Me” is a smooth ballet “Sail On” with acoustic strumming with Keeling and McAuley teaming up on vocals, great ending to CD that is a must for your collection.
Look for an in-depth interview with Jose Ferro next week, and find out who he wants to be guests on the next SCREAMIN’ LORDS CD.
