In the grand tradition of finely crafted art and ingenious degrees of marvelous musical aptitude we present SCARLET HOLLOW, an adventurous anomaly representing the usually artistically dry landscape of Ventura, Ca. To their credit it must have been a haphazard event to find suitable members let alone maintain that caliber of talent in such a dour, opportunistic climate. Yet, bravely they soldiered on, the fruits of their labor manifesting in the form of a musical bacchanalian wine. Fret board gymnastics abound as well as percussion interludes fit to outwit a metronome. But the true grist of the mill lies in their dynamism and sprightly arrangements.

Case in point “The Path" a composition high on drama and low on pragmatism. Reflective and beautiful, even segueing into a sporadic non English sung section. Reveling in a richly woven tapestry of muscle memory, intricately charted majors happily marrying minors and superior grandiosity. Has a groove to die for too. "All That Remains" is a tad morose in feel but a joyous occasion once immersed in its many layers of colorful tempo fluctuations and it's clever lyrical proclamations.

The uppermost of human imagination and achievement is sustainable more so within the strict regimens of Prog than any other valid musical format, and i think that is because of its emphasis on destroying practicality. Of course compartmentalized segues and interludes apply, but at short lived junctures. Their is that nefarious sector sanatorium within which “As The Blade Falls" thrives. "The Waiting" jumps and verve's and contains a semi-Caribbean, funk feel in texture and the very metallic sheen of
"Nightfall Overture" vaguely recalls the best of epic 80's metal.

So, a general hypothesis would be that it's kinda smeared all over the canvas with a music eccentric’s paintbrush. It eschews logic at certain intervals but therein lies it's divergence from most other human minds and collective, artistic outputs. Damn great music is the bottom line here. OPETH meets (more recent) FATES WARNING g with a trifle of KANSAS thrown in for good measure...anyone? Yes, me. Most assuredly.
