Originating from Finland, SHAM RAIN just released their sophomore effort with “Someplace Else. The band has a melodic gothic sound that is mixed with darker tones. The vocals by Mika Tauriainen, simply put, are fantastic. His vocals are suggestive of Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty). “To Leave” is a slow and melodic track with compelling vocals by Tauriainen that will leave you breathless. The man will have you in a PINK Floyd-like trance.

This is a tremendous second effort by SHAM RAIN. The arrangements on “Someplace Else” are orchestrated to perfection. If you are expecting an up tempo rocker on “Someplace Else, don’t look here because all the songs are slow and dark but they should appeal to any music fan. These songs are exquisite and unique with that perfect touch. The band relies heavily on the balance between keyboards and vocals. I recommend that you give SHAM RAIN a listen.
