Slave to the System band members are well known in other successful bands but they are now reaching out in a different direction. Scott Rockenfield acclaimed drummer for Queensryche worked with guitarist Kelly Gray in the past and vocalist Damon Johnson and bassist Roman Glick both formerly of Brother Cane with Johnson also hooking up with Alice Cooper round out the four-piece. These guys are seasoned musicians that will prevail in any genre. It’s hard to believe that the project only took three weeks to write and record, but they came up with a winner.
“Stigmata” is a top rotation killer tune that shows the ability and excitement this band will bring. STTS has the vibe of Velvet Revolver and just as much class. “Live This Life” is truly a unique ballet in the realms of REM (tell me this band doesn’t have class) the track is brilliant with the mellow vocals and melodic guitar unbelievable. The CD is beautifully molded and arranged with great detail. Johnson’s vocals are balanced and showing the structure of a veteran. “Leaves” even show another direction in STTS bringing a U2 sound. This debut release has it all, for all types of music fans. Check out “Ragdoll” sounding like Tool and U2. So just how many tracks can make it to top rotation, wait and see!!! Excellent!
